Collaborative working and mobility are important drivers behind EDB's offer for the telecommunications industry. Many businesses are moving over to a new generation of office environment. The number of IT users increases from day to day and many users are located far away from the head office, with a big increase in the proportion of mobile users. At the same time, the need for collaborative working is at least as great as before. Accordingly, EDB Skala, which is a unified service concept for secure, efficient and flexible operation of distributed IT solutions, plays a central role in our offer for the telecommunications industry.

EDB's involvement in telecommunications relates largely to its relationship with Telenor in Norway and Sweden, and we have day-to-day responsibility for the major part of Telenor’s IT production. This includes around 150 applications. The production apparatus comprises some 300 central servers with 75 TB of storage. Telecommunications also has total commercial responsibility for the Telenor services, including Help Desk and end-user services for several thousand Telenor employees and some 2,000 distributed servers.
